U.S. Poker Open Championship Standings: Stephen Chidwick, Confirmed

Heading into the U.S. Poker Open $50,000 NLH Main Event, Stephen Chidwick had a commanding lead at the top of the USPO Championship standings and a lot had to go wrong for Chidwick to not claim the overall title. That’s because so much has gone right for Stephen Chidwick this week. The British High Roller has won two events, cashed in five, and amassed over $1.2 million in USPO earnings. He had a chance to add to all of those figures in the $50,000 Main Event, but he didn’t need to.

Thanks to a 33-player finale, Stephen Chidwick is the 2018 U.S. Poker Open Champion. Chidwick’s current lead at the top of the USPO Championship standings sits at just over $700,000 and the Event #8 winner will only take home $660,000. That means that both Benjamin Pollak and Event #7 winner David Peters, despite having over a half-million in USPO cashes, were unable to catch Chidwick no matter their results in the $50,000 Main Event.

The fact that the final event didn’t play a role in deciding the first-ever U.S. Poker Open Champion shows how dominating Stephen Chidwick has been over the last week. Before Day 2 of the $50,000 Main Event began streaming on PokerGO, Poker Central’s Remko Rinkema caught up with the USPO champ and you can watch that video above.
